Writing and AI

Writing and AI

Writers and AI
Recently, I posted an anecdote in this group about my relationship with ChatGPT. It was meant to be a joke – a love affair between AI and myself. Some of you got it and thought it was funny.
But the moderator banned it, probably thinking I truly have a love affair with AI. To be clear, I do not have a love affair with AI.
Personally, I only use AI to check spelling and grammar – nothing else. The language is all my own. I’ve also learned that AI has no sense of humor, thank goodness.
I know some people use AI to write everything, which I am against. It sounds hollow. The whole business world uses AI to save money and now they sound even more hollow than before AI.
But should creative writers be afraid of AI? When it comes to losing jobs, yes. But I doubt AI will create a new Hemingway or Bukowski. It may be able to produce a copy of those writers style, but a truly new and original writer – I don’t think so.
What are your thoughts on the role of AI in creative writing?
