We live in scary times.
Climate change is going to throw the world into chaos. We all will be fighting over the land, that is not yet underwater. All the apocalyptic Hollywood movies will come true.
And what about the robots. They are going to take our jobs. Who can compete with someone who doesn’t have to sleep, take a break, work all hours of the day, and not even have to take the weekend off?
And if this was not enough, someone even brought back the threat of nuclear war.
So we are left with a choice. Either scream with terror or laugh our heads off.
I choose the latter.
And here is when drawing comes into play. I always loved to draw. Still remember my efforts in kinder garden, where my childish drawings opened up the door to fantasy land. Drawing for me is like meditation. You absorb yourself in what you are drawing. If you are drawing a landscape, you are drawn into the landscape, no pun intended, and while you are drawing, you forget your daily worries.
And it doesn’t matter how good or bad your drawing turns out to be, it is the therapeutic experience that counts, dig it.
So if you ever feel like the world is coming to an end, or can’t afford to see the latest blockbuster movie, here is a trick you can use. Take a piece of paper and a pen. Sit down at your table and start to draw a happy face or even a couple of Smileys. And just as a child who sees his or her mother’s smile, your mood will change. And it might make you happy, even laugh.
